Psalm 2:8

Ask of Me, and I will give You
The nations for Your inheritance,
And the ends of the earth for Your possession.

Psalm 2:8 NKJV

Hello friends, and welcome to today’s Scripture thought.

The word “ask” is transliterated from the Hebrew word šā’al, which can mean to ask, enquire, borrow, or beg.

The word “nations” is transliterated from the Hebrew word gôy, and can mean nations, heathen, Gentiles, or people.

This word can also be found in Genesis 10:32.

These were the families of the sons of Noah, according to their generations, in their nations (gôy); and from these the nations were divided on the earth after the flood.

Genesis 10:32 NKJV

“Your inheritance” is transliterated from the Hebrew word naḥălâ, and can mean:

  1. possession, property, inheritance, heritage
    1. property
    2. portion, share
    3. inheritance, portion
