The kings of the earth set themselves,
Psalm 2:2-3 (NKJV)
And the rulers take counsel together,
Against the Lord and against His Anointed, saying,
“Let us break Their bonds in pieces
And cast away Their cords from us.”
Hello friends, and welcome to today’s Scripture thought.
The word “LORD” is translated from the Hebrew YHWH. It is transliterated as Yᵊhōvâ. This word is the proper name of the one true God.
This psalm is messianic in nature. The phrase “His Anointed” is transliterated from the Hebrew word māšîaḥ, and is either translated as anointed or messiah.
We can read another example of this word being used in 1 Samuel 2:35.
‘Then I will raise up for Myself a faithful priest who shall do according to what is in My heart and in My mind. I will build him a sure house, and he shall walk before My anointed (māšîaḥ) forever.
