Genesis 1:10

Welcome to today’s Scripture thought. I’m so glad you are here!

And God called the dry land Earth, and the gathering together of the waters He called Seas. And God saw that it was good.

Genesis 1:10 (NKJV)

God (‘ĕlōhîm) named the Earth and the Seas in Genesis 1:10.

“Earth” is translated from the Hebrew word ‘ereṣ, which usually means land, Earth, or ground.

“Seas” is translated from the Hebrew word yām, which means sea. It occasionally is translated as south or west.

“Good” is translated from the Hebrew word ṭôḇ, which means good, pleasant, or agreeable.
