Psalm 1:1

Hello friends, and welcome to today’s daily Scripture thought.

Psalm 1:1 says, Blessed is the man
Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly,
Nor stands in the path of sinners,
Nor sits in the seat of the scornful;…” (NKJV)

Psalm 1 is one of my favorite chapters of the Bible. It contains such insight, as do the rest of the Scriptures.

The word “blessed” here comes from the Hebrew word ‘ešer. Another meaning of this word is “happy.”

How blessed and happy are we when we do not walk in the counsel of the ungodly, and instead depend solely on the counsel of God’s Word.

How blessed and happy are we when we do not stand in the path of sinners or sit in the seat of the scornful. We are blessed and happy when we walk along the narrow way of righteousness, and avoid evil.

Walking in sin does not bring blessings. It does quite the opposite.

I hope you are encouraged today to follow the Lord, and to listen to His counsel and wisdom always.
